The Long Game

Iris hybridizing is not for the impatient. It takes two years from the time of cross-pollination to the time of seeing a first bloom.?ÿ From there, for those select few seedlings that are ultimately deemed worthy, it can take 10 or more years until a seedling is commercially introduced. In other words, it’s a long game. Case in point. our fittingly names The Long Game originated with a cross made back in 2004. Twenty-one years later, seedling WW856-B finally made it to introduction. The giant ruffled watercolor falls steal the show on this 38″ tall specimen and help make it worth the wait.
