Pickathon

Sixty-five years ago, our pink breeding lines began to branch off into lavender iris, resulting in popular favorites such as Grand Waltz and Amethyst Flame. Compared to the above familiar solid lavender color, Pickathon is an attractive exemplar of the steady evolution in the nuances of this class. Gentle lavender standards are feathered magenta, making for a delightful contrast with the more emphatic overlay on the falls. Fuchsia-red hafts balance gold – tipped beards. A lovely watercolor wash on the sculpted falls, combined with glimpses of gold in the shadows, spurs the viewer to pull up a chair. Pickathon takes its name from a music festival near Portland, Oregon.
