Born in California features 6.25-inch flowers on 25-inch tall stems, blooming mid-season as a reblooming tetraploid with semi-evergreen foliage. Its light purple petals (RHS 181A) are complemented by a dark blue-purple eye (RHS 187A) and a bright yellow-green throat. The flower edge displays a 3/8-inch dark purple band with a 1/4-inch white stripe. This large, heavily ruffled, and well-formed cultivar is an exceptionally vigorous grower. The hybridizer regards it as the finest example of this popular pattern. Non-fragrant, it is derived from two seedlings.
